Freycinet Marine Oyster Farm
Don a pair of waders and visit a working oyster farm located in a beautiful setting within an internationally significant wetland and ornithological site. Develop an understanding for wetland and marine ecology, plus a taste for prized Pacific oysters.

Wineglass Lookout Walk
Freycinet National Park is a must see during your stay at Saffire Freycinet. Join one of our informative guides on a walk to the lookout over Wineglass Bay. Learn about the Peninsula’s rich history and acquaint yourself with one of the world’s most famous beaches on this two-hour walking adventure.

Shorter walks of Freycinet
Join one of our guides for an easy two-hour tour, which combines two of the popular shorter walks of the Freycinet Peninsula. Your first walk will be around the Cape Tourville lighthouse, with stunning views of the Tasman Sea and glimpses of Wineglass Bay. The second walk is to Sleepy Bay, where you will descend gently graded steps to the rocky shoreline, while learning about how the Hazards mountain range was formed.

Wine and vine adventures
A wine lover's delight! At the local Freycinet Winery, you will learn the art of winemaking and indulge in some fine Tasmanian fare – and some wine tastings of course!

Pelican Bay canoeing and bird-watching
Unwind and absorb the breathtaking beauty of the Swanport estuary on this guided canoeing adventure at the mouth of the internationally significant Moulting Lagoon wetland. Observe the flocks of pelicans and gaze into the crystal clear waters teeming with marine life.

Unleash the Robin Hood within! Our guides will introduce you to the world of archery on our private archery range and teach you the finer points of shooting a recurve bow.


Cooking demonstration
Love your food? Watch, learn and participate as one of Palate’s creative and delicious dishes is prepared from start to finish. This is an interactive, must-do activity for lovers of luxury dining.

Kite flying
Release your inner child or keep your young ones entertained with a range of kites to suit everyone, from kids through to advanced flyers. Why not challenge your family, friends or one of our guides to a bit of fun?

Mountain biking
Mountain biking offers an opportunity to observe Freycinet’s natural assets at close quarters. We’ll equip you with a bike, plus all the accessories you’ll need for a comfortable and memorable self-guided adventure.

Paddle in the calm and tranquil waters of Muirs Beach wetland, located directly in front of Saffire Freycinet. Sit-on-top kayaks are available to paddle at your leisure behind the windswept sand dunes amongst coastal bushland.

Go fishing off the rocky shoreline in front of Saffire. Flathead, flounder, calamari squid and Australian salmon can be caught in Great Oyster Bay. Four fishing rods are available.

For joggers and walkers, choose between bushland or beach for your daily dose of endorphins. We’ll point you in the right direction!

Beach games
Enjoy the sunshine and test your competitive skills on beautiful Muirs Beach, located directly in front of Saffire. We offer a large range of activities including volleyball, beach cricket, kite flying, sand castle building, bocce, quoits and ultimate frisbee. Our eager guiding team is available to join you.

If golf is your sport, Saffire Freycinet is blessed with several picturesque, challenging and enjoyable nine-hole courses within two to 35 minutes' drive. Saffire will happily provide golf clubs and bags and even assist with transport on request. For an additional fee, you can enjoy an assessment of your game from golf professional Greg Patmore.


An ideal way to spend an afternoon is to lie back in a hammock, read a book and soak up the sunshine. We have hammocks available to suspend in the private setting of your suite, to help you slow down and escape from routine during your holiday stay.

Board games
Take in the picturesque backdrop of the Hazards, either in the privacy of your suite or in the cosy warmth of the Saffire Freycinet lounge, while engaging in a game of Yahtzee, Scrabble, Cluedo, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit or chess (many other board games and Nintendo Wii console available).

Kids activities
Our own Saffire book of games, puzzles and challenges is available for children aged 7 to 13.
Your children can also enjoy our board games, beach games, kite flying, Nintendo Wii, quoits, treasure hunt, craft activities and children’s bikes.

Signature Experiences

If you want to deepen your discovery of Tasmania’s beautiful East Coast, Saffire Freycinet’s breathtaking Signature Experiences can be purchased prior to or upon your arrival. Saffire’s facilitated experiences are at an additional cost to our accommodation packages and offer one-hour to full-day dynamic expeditions throughout Freycinet National Park.

Schouten Island Half Day Experience
Enjoy close-up interactions with soaring sea birds, playful marine mammals and a diversity of life on your way to Schouten Island aboard our purpose-built vessel, Saffire. The adventure also includes a visit to culturally significant sites of past and present inhabitants, including the Australian fur seal. Morning tea is included and prepared by the team of chefs at Saffire. Cost $250 per person, minimum four people.

Wineglass Bay by Water Experience
Come aboard our purpose-built vessel, Saffire, to discover the internationally acclaimed Wineglass Bay. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, you will stop off at one of many white sandy beaches that are dotted around the Freycinet coastline. Stretch your legs with a short, guided walk, or try your luck fishing with our skipper. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch before a leisurely cruise back into Great Oyster Bay. Cost is $395 per person, minimum four people.

Saffire Sparkling Cruise
Relax for an hour and a half in the afternoon aboard our purpose-built vessel, Saffire. Cruise the Freycinet coastline, enjoy fascinating stories of the East Coast and its characters – then disembark on a remote and secluded beach to stroll on pristine, white sand, soak up some sunshine and maybe even take a dip in the pure, turquoise water. On the return voyage, if you’re in the mood for excitement, your Saffire skipper will entertain you with some high-speed action. Cost $140 per person, minimum four people.

Friendly Beaches Quad Bike Experience
Saffire Freycinet invites thrill-seekers on a quad bike tour along four-wheel drive tracks through coastal heathland to southern Friendly Beaches in the Freycinet National Park. Join our adventurous guides on an exciting and challenging half-day adventure. Early bookings essential! (A valid driver's licence is required to operate the quad bikes. Learner's licences are not accepted. Maximum of three drivers plus one passenger per tour permittted.) Cost $150 per person.

Third-Party Experiences

With the Freycinet National Park on your doorstep, there’s a world of deserted islands, wild bushlands, secluded beaches and other Tasmanian attractions to explore. Our third-party experiences place you in the hands of local operators who have an intimate knowledge of the environs, and are hand chosen by Saffire Freycinet for the quality of their services.


Destination, Bathurst Harbour via Freycinet, with a fly past of the southern islands, two-night stopover in iconic Bathurst Harbour, with a flight over Lake Pedder and, if the weather allows, land on the Gordon River. 5-7 days recommended.

Start with a special treat - a night or two at Saffire and build from there.

You will be picked up from the beach in Coles Bay by the Tasmanian Air Adventures seaplane for the flight to Port Davey, where you will be transferred by dinghy to the luxurious sailing vessel Entourage for two days of sailing adventure. After two nights aboard, you will be taken for a scenic flight over Lake Pedder to Macquarie Harbour and the Gordon River (landing conditional on weather conditions) and then delivered back to the Hobart waterfront.

Fly over World Heritage rainforest and rugged coastline before landing at Bathurst Harbour. Lunch is hosted at the winery by the Ellis family, as wine and stories of the property flow freely. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon before the short flight along the Derwent Valley towards home.
